Tiro ao alvo / Shooting guns with the cast!

Hoje fui ao clube de tiro em Vero Beach, Florida, com amigos. O clube é chamado Gold Gun. Pela primeira vez na minha vida eu tirei com uma arma. Foi muito divertido. Mas o som dos tiros deixa qualquer um tonto. Minha pontuação não foi tão ruim para uma primeira vez. Eu acertei o alvo!

Today I went with friends to gun club in Vero Beach, Florida. The club is called Gold Gun. For the first time in my life I shot with a gun. It was really fun. But the sound of the shots makes you dizzy. My score was not so bad for a first time. I hit the target!

Eu fugi do frio de Nova York por alguns dias. Eu vim para a Flórida. Agora eu estou desfrutando de um clima muito agradável e quente. Eu estou em Vero Beach, duas horas de carro de Orlando. É uma cidade pequena, mas é muito charmosa. Ela está cheia de pessoas idosas e ricas. Há muitos aposentados morando daqui.
Nem acredito que ainda estou nos Estados Unidos, porque o clima na Florida é completamente o oposto de outros Estados.

Hoje fui ao teatro ver a peça "Guys and Dolls"e eu era a única no auditório menos de cinqüenta anos de idade. Foi muito divertido musical. Eu adorei. Eu recomendo este show!



I escaped from chilly New York City for a few days. I came to Florida. Now I`m enjoying very nice warm weather. I`m in Vero Beach, a two hour drive from Orlando. It is a small city, but it is very charming. It is full of elderly and wealthy people. There are many retirees living here. I`m happy to be in warm weather, I almost can`t believe I`m still in the USA. Florida is completely different the other States.

I went to a theater to see the play "Guys and dolls" and I was the only one in the auditorium less than fifty years old. It was a very funny musical. I loved it. I recommend this show!

Finalmente na Disney!! Finally at Disney

Introdução Introduction



Nos últimos dois dias eu estava no lugar onde todos os sonhos se tornaram realidade! Sim, eu estou falando da Disney! Foi minha primeira vez lá! A Disney tem 4 parques: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios e Epicot. Eu só não fui para o Animal Kingdom, porque eu não estava interessado e porque o tempo era curto. Mas os outros três parques foram divertidos! Eu adorei o passeio. Voltei à minha infância. Ou eu posso dizer: eu voltei aos meus quinze aninhos, porque é a idade em que geralmente os brasileiros fazem esta viagem. Não é mais criança, mas ainda é suficientemente jovem para desfrutar da fantasia.

Ontem estava chovendo, mas hoje foi perfeito! Fui em quase todas as atrações e tirei milhares de fotos como o usual. Eu não era a única me comportando como uma criança, eu vi muitos pais usando tiaras com as orelhas do Mickey ou chapéus engraçados. Por falar nas orelhas do ratinho mais famoso do mundo, elas estão por toda parte! Por exemplo, em sorvetes, doces, sinais de trânsito, etc. E claro: Na minha na minha cabeça também.

Como não é permitido tirar fotos ou filmar dentro de qualquer atração, eu tive que ser discreta. Eu filmei isso dentro de um curto período da Viagem ao México no Parque Epicot.

The last two days, I was in a place where all your dreams become true! Yes, I`m talking about Disney World! It was my first time there! Disney has 4 parks: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The only one I did not go was the Animal Kingdom, because I wasn`t interested. But the other three parks were amusing!! I loved them. I went back to my childhood. Or I can say: I went back to my fifteens, because it is the usual age Brazilians make this trip. At this age you are not a child anymore, but young enough to enjoy the fantasy.

The first day was running, but today was perfect! I went almost to all the attractions and I took thousands of pictures as usual. I wasn`t the only one behaving like a child, I saw many parents wearing Mikey`s ears or funny hats. The Mickey`s head is everywhere! For example, in ice creams, candies, traffic signals, etc.

As it is not permitted to take pictures or film inside any attraction, I had to be very discreet. I filmed this a short period inside of Mexico trip in the Epcot Park.

Ajuda para fazer as malas!! Help for packing!!

Fazer as malas é a tarefa mais difícil quando se trata de intercâmbio. Não a mesma coisa que uma viagem curta, é uma mudança! E é ainda pior se a viagem em questão é o retorno para casa.

Depois de quatro meses comprando, se aproxima a maltida hora de empacotar tudo! O que fazer com todas as coisas na hora de voltar para o Brazil? Para mim a resposta tem sido sempre a mesma: Levar tudo de volta!! Mas eu vou precisar da ajuda dos amigos e de reza forte para que tudo caiba nas minhas “pequenas” malinhas!! O problema não é só o espaço, mas o peso das coisas!

Packing is the most difficult task when we live abroad.

Moving to another country is not the same thing as a

short trip. So you pack? everything that you need and others than you may need. Just in case!

Now I`m the inverse and in a difficult process!! I`m going back home after five months of intense shopping in New York. I could not the resist sales and promotions at all.

I deserve all the trouble to close my suitcases, because I did not think about how much space I may have had during all this time. I just wanted to enjoy promotions and good deals.

Now I have to question myself: What will I do

with all my stuff when I return to Brazil?

I have few days to think about it and try to make everything fit in my suitcases. I don`t want to leave anything behind!!

Just so you know how many problems I created for myself, I brought 14 pairs of shoes with me from Brazil and now I have 21 to take back with me. I know I seem a little bit crazy, however just girls can understand me: Women need options!!

Estatua da Liberdade - Statue of Liberty

Depois de quase cinco meses morando em New York City, eu finalmente fui para a estátua da Liberdade, em Ellis Island.

Hoje eu estava tão feliz por que fez um lindo dia de sol. Eu disse: dia de sol, mas nem um pouco quente. Ele estava muito longe de estar quente! A temperatura estava por volta 24 º F (-4 º C)! E com muito vento. Desculpem a qualidade do vídeo, mas estava muito vento e o som não é muito claro. Esta tão frio que perdi o tato dos meus dedos. Não tem como fotografar de luvas, infelizmente.
Eu comprei o bilhete no início de Novembro e a data mais próxima disponível naquela data para subir na estatua era para hoje, 9 de Janeiro. Naquele momento isso soou tão longe, finalmente chegou o dia!
Após os primeiros cem degraus, e eu pensei que não seria capaz de chegar ao topo. Senti-me como eu velha! A escada é em espiral e muito estreita. Uma vez subindo, tem que que completar o trajeto, pois só pode descer pelo outro lado que esta entrelaçado em espiral. E não tem como parar porque tem pessoas subindo atrás de você. É um caminho sem volta e toda a vida para cima! Foi horrível! Eu tenho asma e foi um trabalho e tanto. Mas eu fui!
A cabeça da estatua, ponto chave do trajeto e fim da tortura, é muito menor dentro do que eu pensava! Chegando lá, eu tinha apenas alguns minutos. Só o tempo suficiente para recuperar o fôlego. Não há muito para ver ... Só tive tempo para um rápido olhar através das janelas e que era hora de ir para baixo. Para baixo todos os santos ajudam. Mas neste caso o corre-mão foi meu amigo, pois um passo errado e seria o efeito dominó!!
Estou contente porque fiz o passeio, mas foi a primeira e última vez! Quando eu voltar para New York City eu posso até ir na Ilha de novo, porque é muito bonita, mas nunca mais dentro da estátua! É triste admitir, mas eu não sou mais uma guriazinha! Um ano atrás, eu subi a Torre de Pisa, em Itália (294 degraus), sem quaisquer dificuldades. Embora seja bem menor a Torre de pisa, comparado a Estatua da Liberdade, desta vez eu estava pedindo lona no início do trajeto. Como diria a minha mãe: Com uma mão nas costas.
After almost 5 months living in New York City, I finally went to Statue of Liberty in Ellis Island.
Today I was so happy for the beautiful sunny day. I said sunny day, but not warm. It was very far from warm!! It was around 24ºF (-4ºC)!! It was extremely windy. Sorry for the quality of the video, but was very wind and the sound is not very good.
I bought those tickets early in November and the first available day to go on the top of crown was for today 9th of January. That sounded so far at that time, but finally the day came!
After the first one hundred stairs, I thought, I would not be able to arrive at the top. I felt myself as an old lady! The stair are very narrow, and once I started walking up, I was not able to stop. There were people going up behind me! It was awful!! I have asthma and it was a very hard job. But I did it!
The head is much smaller inside than I thought! I had only few minutes there. Only time to recover my breath. Not much to see… I just had time for a quick look trough the windows and it was time to go down. And the way down was much easier!
I’m glad I did the tour, but it was the first and the last time! When I come back to New York City, I would go to the Island again, because it is very beautiful, but nevermore inside of the statue! I’m not a young girl anymore! One year ago I walked up Pisa Tower in Italy (294 stairs) without any difficulties.

De baixo do Lixo!! Suffocated by garbage!

Incrível que uma cidade do tamanho de Nova York fique tanto tempo sem coleta do lixo. Hoje, depois de mais de uma semana, o lixo foi removido das ruas. Desde da noite de Natal o lixo vem sendo acumulado nas calçadas. A neve do dia 26 e madrugada do dia 27 dificultou a coleta, mas não poderia ser uma desculpa para suspender o serviço totalmente. A neve começou a derreter no dia 28. A cidade virou um lixão, neve derretida, sacolas plásticas, latas e garrafas. Forte odor pelas ruas e moradores desesperado sem saber o que fazer com as sacolas de lixo. Ao lado o tão esperado caminhão de lixo!

It is hard to believe a city the size of New York goes so long without picking up trash. Today, after more than a week, the trash was removed from the streets. Since Christmas the rubbish has been accumulating on the sidewalks. The snow from the 26th and early morning of the 27th of December made it more difficult to collect, but could not be an excuse to suspend the service entirely. The snow began to melt on the 28th. The city became a dump; melt snow, plastic bags, cans and bottles. There was strong odor in the streets and residents desperate did not know what to do with garbage bags. Finally, the long-awaited garbage trucks have resumed service this evening!

Happy New Year!!

Uma vez perto de Times Square, eu tinha que encontrar uma maneira de chegar perto da esquina da 7ª Avenida com a rua 42ª St onde o show acontece. O máximo que consegui foi 7ª Avenida com 49ª St, mas deu para ver os fogos! As pessoas não podiam passar, haviam barreiras de policiais em todas as ruas. Somente quem tinha reserva em algum dos restaurantes ou bares nas proximidades estava autorizado a atravessar as ruas. Eu estava apenas a duas quadras de distância do lugar certo para assistir ao show, quando escutei os policiais pedindo aos pedestres irem até a rua 59ª St (17 quadras!), pois somente a partir dali estaria liberada a passagem. Eu disse a mim mesma: De jeito nenhum! Eu estou perto e vou dar um jeito de passar!

Primeiro obstáculo (ir da 5ª para 6ª Avenida) = Eu vi um homem de um restaurante italiano, Da Marino (220West 49th St.), procurando clientes. Eu falei com ele e disse que iria lá. Ele pediu para o policial abrir a barreira para nós. O restaurante ficava exatamente na próxima esquina, então eu fui até a frente dele e passei da entrada.

Segundo Obstáculo (ir da 6ª para a 7ª Avenida) = Chegando na segunda barreira, eu olhei ao redor. Todos os policiais foram muito rigorosos para não deixar ninguém passar. Mas, duas mulheres com um menino pequeno pediram a um policial para que passar a barreira apenas por um segundo para que o menino visse a Times Square (42ªSt). Foi apenas a oportunidade que eu estava esperando! Fui atrás deles até 7ª Ave. Eu tive que arrastar a minha amiga pela mão. Ela estava com medo dos policiais. Então, chegamos lá! Uma vez lá ninguém poderia nos tirar!

Tivemos de lutar por espaço. Quem chegou lá cedo, quero dizer, 8 ou 9 horas mais cedo não queria permitir deixar que seguíssemos a adiante no meio da multidão. Como eu já estava lá, eu não ia ficar para trás! Foi difícil de fazer, mas não foi impossível. E eu pode tirar boas fotos e fazer um vídeo! Valeria mais a pena o esforço, se o espetáculo de fogos de artifício fosse, pelo menos, semelhante aos que acontecem no Brasil. É difícil de acreditar que depois de tudo o esforço, eu vi menos de um minuto de fogos. Para mim valeu a pena, mas acho que para quem esperou quase 10 horas de pé, ficou no mínimo arrependido! Além dos fogos, teve chuva de papel picado. Primeiro Ano Novo sem champanha! Não é permitido beber nas ruas.

Once near Times Square, I had to find a way to get near of the corner of 7th Ave and 42ndSt where the show suppose to happen. People could not across the policemen`s barriers without reservations restaurants or pubs. I was just two blocks away from the right place to watch the show when the police officers ask for pedestrians walk all the way down until 59th St (17 blocks to get through there). I told to myself: No way!! I’m going to get there and I will see it! First obstacle go to 5th Ave to 6th Ave = I saw a guy trying to find costumers for an Italian restaurant. I talked with him and he asked for the policeman to open the barrier for me and my friend. The restaurant was exactly at next corner, so I walked all the way as I would go there and arrived until the next barrier.

Second Obstacle go to 6th Ave to 7th Ave = I looked around. All the police officers were very strict about don’t allow to anyone pass. But, two women with a little boy had been there so long asking the policeman to go through just for a second for the boy to see the time square and they would come back there. Was just the opportunity I was waiting! I went behind them until 7th Ave and I had to drag my friend by her hand very quickly. She was afraid to cheat them. So we got there!! Once there anyone could take us out!
We had to fight for space. Who arrived there early, I mean 8 or 9 hour early didn’t want to allow go us to transit between them, but I was there and I would not stop after all the effort! It was hard to do, but not impossible. And I could take nice pictures and make a good video! Worth the effort if the spectacle of fireworks was at least similar to those of Brazil. It's hard to believe that after 30 seconds it was over. For me it paid off, but think for those who waited nearly 10 hours to see this!!
